lee // deep ellum portraits // dallas, tx

I met up with my friend Lee Duck a little bit before Christmas to go shoot some portraits around my neighborhood (Deep Ellum in Dallas, TX). We got some incredibly nice weather, fortunately, which made shooting a bit more bearable than most December days...

So Lee swung by the loft in the morning before we rolled out to a few spots I had found while riding my bike around earlier in the week: a few rad walls, some art installations, murals, and other bits of awesome. While we drove to all of them to save time, it's pretty rad I could have walked to each of these spots (and probably found some new ones while walking...).

Follow up a couple hours of shooting with some BBQ from Bakers Ribs (pretty good, but no Lockhart) and you've got a pretty solid morning. Definitely going to have to keep exploring the neighborhood to find little bits of gold like these spots.

san francisco // jordan // personal and portraits

This whole trip to San Francisco stemmed from something a bit more important — Jordan and I got married just over a month ago! So of course, we had to make our honeymoon just as rad as the wedding (shot by Pat Furey) and go somewhere neither of us had been before. That just happened to be San Francisco and it was definitely the right choice for both of us. It was great getting out of Texas for a bit and over to the West coast, seeing new places, meeting up with some friends of ours from school, and just having a generally awesome time. On top of the standard tourist-esque things, you know, Golden Gate, Alcatraz, we also hit up what was probably my favorite place of the whole trip: the Marin Headlands. So. Damn. Good.

Anyhow, here are some photos from the trip to SF, and some portraits of my best friend/wife.

Definitely going to have to get back to SF soon, it would definitely be rad to shoot some weddings out there.

jeff // portraits // plano tx

I got a call from my good friend Jeff a few days back; he wanted to get some portraits taken to give to his mom for Christmas, and I was more than happy to to be a part of his gift. Jeff is a firefighter who recently just got on his first department here in Texas. He's stoked.  And so am I. It's beyond awesome to sit and watch a friend you meet going to local shows finally get the job he really wants, and that's what has happened with Jeff. So, we met up at his apartment and did the session right there. I loved the light coming in through the windows, so we just cut the other lights, opened up all the windows, and went with it.

I had to force myself to take a break from blogging for the last few months, unfortunately. I'm working on finishing up my degree at the moment and have been needing to pull several 12-15 hour days in some of the labs up at school. But, now, as my semester comes to a close, the blog is being reignited. I met up with my good friends Karron and Jared a few weeks ago to take some rad engagement photos down at Southern Methodist University in the University Park/Highland Park area. Definitely had a ton of fun roaming around the gorgeous campus and then heading to some soccer fields to grab some photos just before the sun went down.
